Boy, today just about kicked my ass. I have almost no memory of what I did from when I left the house this morning up until the car ride home. I believe it had something to do with the worst, sorry excuse for sleep I had last night. That’s a rare thing for me. Usually I’m asleep within minutes of the kiss, kiss, goodnight, love yous with the husband.
Anywhoo. There are a couple of things I DO remember about today:
I bought tickets to Bumbershoot. I committed Lyndon and myself to going. And it’s going to be fun. But I’m tired just thinking about it. We’ll be going on the last day and here are the things I’m excited for: indie markets and food vendors, Museum of Glass Mobile, music by People Eating People, Lay Low, Loch Lemond, and Surfer Blood, and most especially comedy by Nerdist Chris Hardwick and Patton Oswalt. It’s going to be a blast.
And sticking with the theme of concerts…
…I signed up for this: Art House Co-op’s The Sketchbook Project: 2011. I am very very very very very very VERY excited. I signed Lyndon and myself up as a team effort. Team Onigiri Robot! Lyndon and I will be drawing together again. What is The Sketchbook Project you ask? As it says on the site – It’s like a concert tour but with sketchbooks. How wacky cool is that? It’s simply this. We get a moleskin sketchbook in the mail and we have a couple of months to fill it up with art and sketches and ideas and everything our little brains and skillz can pour into it. We then send it back and it goes on tour with other sketchbooks and it will appear in cities across the country! It will be tracked so we know where my sketchbook is and who’s looked at it and how many times it’s been looked at. After all of that, it will be digitized and put in the Brooklyn Art Library to be stored for all history. Big Smile. Cool??? Very.
Details will trickle in as we begin the project. And I’ll post some of our drawings.
Aaaaand goodnight.

Today, I made an icon for my website. So, when you bookmark my website and add it to your iphone or ipodtouch, you’ll see the icon I made. This is a screenshot of my phone with my bookmark. So you can see what it looks like without actually having to add it to your iphone/ipodtouch. Haha. Lame. I know I’ll be making more of these just for fun because I get hungry to do things like that. And, most likely, I’ll add another screenshot here. So be prepared. Haha.

Sidenote: I want an iphone 4 so badly. I don’t know what I’m holding out for. I want to snuggle with it. Almost…..there…..

Here are a few things sitting on my desk. Including the pencil I usually draw with! It’s fun to draw the drawing instrument you’re currently drawing with. I really enjoy drawing objects – mostly office supplies and food. I also like miniature things.
It’s sunny and I want to go outside and play. I feel afternoon lunchtime T-ball championships starting up again soon at work.

Lately, I’ve been really into iced americanos. No cream or milk. Sometimes I’ll throw a packet of raw sugar in it. And when I’m trying to jazz it up a little, I’ll throw some honey or agave nectar in. It’s the perfect amount of caffeine and I don’t feel sick or guilty for drinking it. Also, I really like the glass I use at work. I drew a picture.
I’m on a quest to find the perfect sketchbook that’s big enough to draw detailed things on but small enough to carry around with me. I might have to switch my bag or carry less junk in my purse.
I’m hoping to draw a thing a day. Just for practice. And because it’s therapeutic. And it gets my brain juices going. So I can be more creative and say gross things like brain juices.
I’m single tonight. My plans include a long sweaty workout, left over Thai food, a few episodes of Bones (omg obsessed), some zombie farming, and a little drawring and definitely some relaxin’.
Single life is good sometimes.
P.S. But if I had the choice, I’d have have him home with me.

I began playing with google sketch-up today. Trying to learn how to build things with it so I can use it in my job. So far, I built a bookshelf. Next: my living room!! Bwahaha.

Kyudo tonight! Awesome. Although I feel like I’m coming down with something. I’m trying to ignore it.

A while back at work, they asked me to draw a dumpster. It’s garbage. I want to put it on a tshirt. If you walk into a starbucks and see this image. Yep. I drew the dumpster.
Posting it here because it seems like such a waste not to. hardiharhar.

Lyndon and I started a sketchblog. Click on the Onigiri to get to the website.
oni-bot = Onigiri Robot
Updating: Weekly (Sundays)
Onigiri, also known as omusubi or rice ball, is a food made from white rice formed into triangular or oval shape and often wrapped in nori (edible “seaweed”).

Friday Studio Meeting guest speaker: Chank Diesel – http://www.chank.com/
I remember finding chank back in the early web days and it was like wonderland! Installing all these different and free fonts. They were free and they were fantastic. Favorite font available free at the website: OH LA LA by Martin Fredrikson Core
Cat asked me what he looked like so I snapped a photo. He is not how I pictured at all. I learned a lot of very interesting things. I am now inspired to create more fonts. Especially collaborative fonts with my fellow designer coworkers and friends.
On a different subject. I get very annoyed when I tell someone something I’ve done that I’m proud of and they question me in disbelief. I realize that sounds self centered and arrogant. I don’t mean it to be. But whatever. The conversation would go something like this:
Me: Hey, I built a monster truck yesterday.
Annoying Person: You did?
Me: yes.
AP: YOU did?
Me: yes. yesterday.
AP: YOU built a MONSTER TRUCK?
Me: Uh-huh. Sure did.
And then, they don’t say anything. Like how cool/weird/stupid they think it is. They just say ‘Huh….’ like they’re still thinking about it and how could I possibly do something so cool/weird/stupid. That annoys me. It annoys me as much as when I tell someone something I’ve accomplished that I’m proud of and they immediately point out they’ve done something equally (if not more) awesome. I don’t mind hearing about awesome things people have done but what makes me mad is the lack of response to something I brought up in the first place. I should get used to it though. I am forgotten girl, after all.
UPDATE: Holy crap. So I saved this post to post later and realized that I sound like such a whiney bitch! Disregard and move along. Nothing to see here, folks but a weeping, sorry mass of self -depreciating poo.
